UGLYBIRD is currently made up of five performers. We are fresh independent thinkers and movers aiming to create work that is exciting and energetic. Our ethos is to produce work that explores and focuses on the individual performer’s personality. We try and ground our work in personal experience, which is reflected in our choice not to reproduce our work on a constant stream of bodies.  Each piece is specific to the dancers that perform it. To achieve this we make decisions concerning the content of each piece by focusing on the members of the company, drawing upon what challenges and demonstrates them at their best during performance.
We invite choreographers to enter our creative process understanding that we make work believing in the performers creative voice.
Our work is collaborative and fuelled by who we are as people in and outside of performance.
Outside performance, we aim to engage both new and seasoned dance audiences. Offering educational opportunities and workshops alongside the work itself.
